One of Calgary's most iconic holiday events, with hands-on activities and entertainment sure to delight guests of all ages. November 26, 10am to 4pm; Disney Winter Meetup at New Horizon Mall. Come dressed up in your favorite Mickey ears and outfit to create memories that will last a lifetime. November 26 to January 8, 5:30pm to 12am; 37th Annual Lions Festival of Lights. For many Calgary families, the visit to the Lions annual light display marks the beginning of the Christmas season. Located on the east side of the Confederation Golf Course, you'll find thousands of glowing lights displayed in beautiful Christmas themes at Confederation Park. Opening in December; WinSport Tube Park. The tube park is one of the largest in Western Canada and is the perfect activity to spend time outdoors with your family. Purchase advance tickets at winsport.ca.

December 1; Sparks’ Countdown to the Holidays! Two dozen immersive spaces just ready to be explored and Instagram ready. Guests will experience a Flint the Robo Dog room, have some fun in Cindy Loo Hoo’s lab, Baking with Science, a Teddy Bear Plunge, and more. Learn more at sparkscience.ca.

December 1 to 31; Airdrie Festival of Lights. Located in Airdrie’s Nose Creek Park, the Airdrie Festival of Lights is a beautiful, outdoor walk-through lights experience, with about a million dollars’ worth of displays and other special features. Learn more at airdrielights.com.

December 1 to 31; The Rotary Festival of Trees. A magical event happening throughout the month of December in Canmore for the whole family at the Malcolm Hotel. Imagine an indoor forest of Christmas trees decorated and twinkling all in one place, all created and donated by local businesses. Learn more at rotaryfestivaloftrees.ca.

December 1 to January 8; Christmas Lights in Legacy 2023. What was once a one-off way to dazzle local residents, has now turned into an annual family-friendly event that brings everyone from Calgary and area. Drive through the Legacy Community in the southeast of Calgary to enjoy a wondrous Christmas lights display of more than one million lights. Learn more at legacylife.ca.

December 3, 11am to 2pm; Santa Photos at Country Hills Village Shopping Centre. Santa photos are back at Country Hills Village. December 7 to 31; Glow Calgary YYC Presents Christmas Around The World. Santa crosses the globe to bring gifts to the children of the world. Can you help him? Celebrate Christmas magic in China, India, The Netherlands, Mexico, France, and England, all in one night, and all under the glow of a million twinkling lights at Nutrien Western Events Centre in Stampede Park. This breathtaking space is over 70,000 square feet, and brings a majestic winter wonderland completely indoors. December 9, 5:45pm; CP Holiday Train. ​The Canadian Pacific (CP) Holiday Train will return to the rails this season! The train will raise money, food, and awareness for local food banks in communities along the CP network. Check it out at Anderson C-Train Station - South C-Train parking lot. Learn more at cpr.ca.

Ongoing to December 10 (select dates); Kirks Alpaca Farm Christmas Photos. Looking for unique Santa photos this year? Why not include an alpaca? Long hailed as “one of the finest baroque conductors of his generation,” Halle Handel Prize-winning conductor Nicholas McGegan conducts the Orchestra and Chorus in this quintessential holiday classic. December 5 to 7; Calgary Philharmonic Presents Traditional Christmas. This holiday season, experience the thrill of the circus and the beauty of the symphony as the Calgary Phil welcomes Troupe Vertigo, the L.A.-based ensemble whose “dizzying acts defy gravity and leave its lucky audiences in awe.”  says the Los Angeles Times. December 8 to 10; Candy Cane Kids. Cookie, Stripe, and Pep are the Quality Control Inspectors for McJingles Incorporated. Their job? To monitor, measure, and analyze the Christmas spirit worldwide. This year, however, the cheery trio discover that the Canadian spirit is dangerously low, and pull out all the stops to raise it. Using their social media platform Jinglegram, they decide to broadcast live! December 10; ATCO Presents Miracle on Mainstreet with the Youth Singers of Calgary. A merry, musical production at the ATCO Performing Arts Centre, inspired by those Christmas parades we all love! It’s time again for the annual Main Street Christmas Parade! Everyone is so excited…well, almost everyone. Cresley Curmudgeon has hosted this parade for years, and each year they get a bit more Grinchy about it. Not even their co-host, Terry Tinsel, can push back with their over-the-top Christmas spirit. December 21 to 24; Bert Church Live Theatre Presents Bumbles' Big Christmas Adventure. Share in the adventure as Santa entrusts Bumbles with the all-important jar of Christmas magic. When everything goes awry it appears that Christmas is doomed, but Santa has confidence in Bumbles' ability to fix his mistake. Every Christmas, Santa’s elves hold the annual Holly Jolly Festive Holiday Christmas Spectacular – a showcase of all of their skills! But one elf, Sam, can’t figure out what his best skill is and without an amazing performance, he won’t earn his special elf name! Until January 13; Jubilations Junior Presents The Guardians of Christmas. Peter Quill and the Guardians barely made it out of their latest brush with danger in time to start their trek to Earth for Christmas. But wait...a few of them got left behind? A rescue mission sends them crash landing on a snow-laden planet ruled by an Ice Queen. Will the Ice Queen let them leave her planet? JANUARY FUN 

January to February 2024; Lake Louise Ice Magic Festival. Set in the beautiful mountains, the Lake Louise Ice Magic Festival gathers talented ice artists from around the world and thousands of spectators for an exciting international ice carving competition. For over 20 years, the tournament has been held every January at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, where skillful ice carvers create their unique artworks from huge, 300-pound ice blocks.

Until January 13; Jubilations Theatre Presents Top Gun: A Maverick Musical. Jubilations Dinner Theatre takes a ride on the Highway to the Danger Zone with their parody spin on the fighter jet franchise. January 14, 3pm; The Calgary Philharmonic Presents Drag Story Time: Peter and the Wolf. In Sergei Prokofiev’s imaginative masterpiece for young audiences, Peter and his animal friends decide to capture a wolf that’s been prowling about the village. A time-honored introduction to the orchestra, the instruments serve as characters in this story brilliantly narrated by drag storytellers in collaboration with Calgary Pride. January 15 to February 4; High Performance Rodeo. One Yellow Rabbit’s High Performance Rodeo, Calgary’s International Festival of the Arts, is where the action is. January 20; Bert Church Theatre Presents Jeremy and Jazzy Singalong. With Jeremy and Jazzy, there’s a story in every song! Follow the musical road to the foot of Tin Pan Valley and you’ll find Creation Station: a music studio and outdoor concert stage where Jeremy, Jazzy, Stu, Tunebug, and the Kids-at-Home make music. Then jump into Tunebug with them and follow the musical road as far as inspiration will take you to discover Destination Imagination, the magical world where the characters in Jeremy and Jazzy’s songs come to life in Story-Song adventures. Until February 4; Stage West Presents Step By Step: Evolution of the Greatest Boy Bands. The creation of a boy band is pretty easy.
