Kindergarten is the start of an exciting adventure, an adventure full of promise. In the early years, personalized attention can make a meaningful difference in children’s lives. And that is what sets Calgary Board of Education early learning programs apart from the rest. At the CBE, we understand that children bring their own unique talents and gifts to their learning experience.
Our teachers know how to help children reach their full potential. From that very first day of Kindergarten, teachers begin looking into the future to help children take those next steps in their learning. We never lose sight of our ultimate goal, which is for every student to complete high school with a foundation of learning necessary to thrive in life, work and continued learning.
To achieve that goal for every student, we must recognize which children need more support to achieve long-term success. It is because of this that we have invested additional funds beyond what the government provides to offer full-day Kindergarten in 17 of our schools. These schools are in communities where there are large numbers of children who could benefit most from additional time at school.
Whether it is a community school, language program or one of our many alternative programs, parents and guardians can choose the Kindergarten program that is best for their child. They can be assured that the unique needs of each child will be taken into consideration at our schools.
In fact, what many people do not realize is that our early learning programs include more than just Kindergarten. We also offer programs for preschool-aged children with exceptional needs. By providing focused attention to these learners at an early age, we are able to better prepare them for Kindergarten and beyond.
For those children who do not attend a preschool program, Kindergarten will be their first introduction to school and the CBE. That first day will end up being one of those significant early experiences your child will remember for a lifetime. We are proud to be a part of creating those memories.
