Simple Changes to Refresh Your Space

How many of you truly love your home? I mean love your home? If you were to rate your home, what per cent would you say that you love your home? I know I’ve said this before, and I’m going to say it again: A home is one of the biggest investments we will ever make. I so strongly believe you should love coming home every. single. day. So can you say that? Do you love coming home? While the majority of my clients are going through renovations of some kind, there are some simpler, less expensive ways to refresh a space in your home.

The most impactful way to refresh a space?

Add color. If you know me well, this can’t be a shock that this is No.1 on my list. Of course, changing the paint color in your home will most likely create the biggest change and can change the entire feel of a room. From dark and dated to fresh with the right paint colors!

If painting is not in the budget, then there are still ways to add color to a space:

Toss cushions. This always amazes me that toss cushions, (yes, pillows), can really add a pop of much needed color to a space or create a feeling of calm and peacefulness.

Maybe it’s not peace and calm you’re looking for. Maybe your space needs a splash of color to liven up the place!

Artwork. A painting or print with bold colors can add some joie de vivre in your home.

A little too bold for you? A painting or print in subtle colors always works too.

Rearrange furniture. This is one of my favorite things to do. It is common for some people to get stuck on this tip. The reason they get stuck is due to the fact that they have too many pieces of furniture to even move things around. The other common issue I run across is that the furniture is the wrong size for the space (either too big or too small). If this is the case for you, the first step is to get rid of some of the pieces that no longer serve your purpose or are not the correct size for the space.

Declutter. Life is busy. The quickest and cheapest way to refresh a space is to get rid of all the stuff that is not needed in the space. Tackle the flat surfaces (as they are a magnet for stuff). Recycle any extra papers, magazines, etc., you no longer need. Never leave a room empty handed!

As you can see, you don’t necessarily have to tackle a renovation to a get much-needed refresh of your space!
